FAQ

What is a lesson like?

Lessons are casual and interactive. Students can expect to start with a warmup and a talk about your goals. Most students will be working on a piece or two afterwards followed by critique and technique work to reach their potential. Students will finish the lesson excited to work on their music.

Can parents come?

Parents can always attend! There will be comfortable seating available and don’t be afraid to ask questions or make comments during the lesson.

Do I need to practice?

The short answer is yes. Lessons are a partnership. I’m not looking for perfection, I’m looking for passion or that a student has given their best effort.

Where do I get an instrument? What size?

A great place to start is to rent an instrument from places like Music & Arts, Tarpley Music, or Shar Music. These companies will include everything students need to start playing. They will also find the right size instrument for you. Look for local luthiers or shops as well. If there are complications to getting an instrument, please let me know!

What platforms are used for online lessons?

I will be using Zoom or Forte. As the first lesson approaches, I will explain what audio settings will work the best.

Can I take online and in person lessons?

Yes, just let me know when scheduling lessons which ones need to be in person or online. If a lesson needs to be switched later, please let me know at least 24 hours in advance.

What if I can't come every week?

Just contact me to schedule those lessons!

When can I sign up for lessons?

Sign up anytime! I take students even if its in the middle of the semester or in the summer.

What if I don't want to continue lessons?

I’ll be sad to see you go, but I understand. Just contact me and I will take you off the schedule and take care of any balance I might owe you.

What if I haven't played an instrument before?

I will teach you! Starting from scratch can be a thrilling journey.

When and how do I pay you?

Payment will be due at the first of every month. Each payment will cover lessons for that entire month. I use Venmo, cash, or check for all payments.
